EGTE Ethiopian Grain Trade Enterprise is re-established in accordance with Regulation No. 58/92 of the Councils of Ministers and completed merger with Ethiopian Oil Seeds and Pulses Export Corporation. The objective of the merger and EGTE's re-establishment is to promote Ethiopian grain export and market development for farmers' produces that could motivate them for more production, more specifically: To purchase grain from Farmers and sell in local and mainly in export markets. To contribute towards the stablization of markets for Farmers' produces so that they will be encouraged to increase their outputs. To engage in other related activities conducive to the attainment of its purposes. Organizational Set-up To attatin the above objectives, EGTE, with its Head Office in Addis Ababa, has branches and many trade centers throughtout the country. Capital The authorized capital of the enterprise amounts to Birr 112,012,454.00 (or USD 13,177,936.00); of which Birr 105,047,079.00 (or USD 12,358,480.00) is paid in cash and in kind. Storage Capacity EGTE has the capacity to store more than seven million quintals of grain in its warehouses situated in different parts of the country. Transport Facility The Entrprise has Transport Depatement with Heavy and Light trucks to transport grain from place to place, and for customers to their specific location. Core Activities With the above organizational and logisic facilities, the enterprise currently engaged in: Export of Oil Seeds and Pulses to earn foreign currency for the nation. Supply of grain as Row Material Inputs for local food processing industries, and Supply of food grain for government, non-government organization, city dwellers and other customers.
