BACK GROUND
Ethiopian Grain Trade Enterprise was established under the name of "Grain Board" in 1949. The enterprise was reorganized in 1999 for the purpose of purchasing grain, Oil Seeds, Pulses both for local wholesale and export. The Enterprise has diversified Its business to include Coffee export trade since 2009. Its head office is located in Addis Ababa and to expand its market coverage the Enterprise govern 10 branches and 91 trade centers throughout the country.

Ethiopian grain export and market development for farmers' produces that could motivate them for more production, more specifically:

  • To purchase grain from Farmers and sell in local and mainly in export markets.
  • To contribute towards the stablization of markets for Farmers' produces so that they will be encouraged to increase their outputs.
  • To engage in other related activities conducive to the attainment of its purposes.
VISION
To see stabilized agricultural product market in the country and be a leader in export revenue earning.

MISSION
By integrating the strategic growth of the country's agricultural production with agricultural marketing activities, the Enterprise creates market opportunities to farmers and developmental investors. Moreover, the Enterprise generates foreign currency earning by exporting agricultural products and plays a role of developmental force through stabilizing markets for both producers and consumers.

HUMAN RESOURCE
. Has 1,276 permanent staff and 254 employees for limited period of time. Among these employees highly qualified and certified Coffee experts are found.

FACILITIES
  • Owns modern Coffee, oil seed and pulses cleaning machines tha can polish, sort and clean 6 metric tons Coffee and 10 metric tons oil seeds and pulses per hour,
  • Owns heavy and light trucks to facilitate its export and domestic trade as per customer's requirements.








STORAGE CAPACITY
  • Owns warehouses situated in different parts of the country that can store more than 800,000 tons at full capacity .
TURNOVER
  • Currrently annual sales amount to Birr 1,000,000,000.00 (USD 58,832,530.00)
CORE ACTIVITIES
With the above organizational and logisic facilities, the enterprise is engaged in:
  • Export of Oil Seeds, Coffee and Pulses to earn foreign currency for the nation.
  • Supply of grain as Row Material Inputs for local food processing industries, and
  • Supply of food grain for government, non-government organization, city dwellers and other customers.
