BACK GROUND
Ethiopian Grain Trade Enterprise is a pioneer in Ethiopian grain trade industry established over 60 years ago. Engaged in grain and coffee purchases, local wholesale and export businesses.EGTE is serving the public in Coffee, Oil seeds, Pulses export and grain price stabilization roles.

Ethiopian grain export and market development for farmers' produces that could motivate them for more production, more specifically:

  • To purchase grain from Farmers and sell in local and mainly in export markets.
  • To contribute towards the stablization of markets for Farmers' produces so that they will be encouraged to increase their outputs.
  • To engage in other related activities conducive to the attainment of its purposes.

To see fully developed and well functioning domestic and export trade in Ethiopia.

MISSION
EGTE works to create domestic export market for cereals, pulses, oil seeds and coffee beans. Accesses producers and consumers in remote areas by opening purchase/sells channels in surplus producing as well as deficit areas throughout the country.

Organizational Set-up
To attatin the above objectives, EGTE with its Head Office in Addis Ababa, has 10 branch offices and 91 trade centers throughtout the country.

Storage Capacity
EGTE has the capacity to store more than 800,000 tons in its warehouses situated in different parts of the country.

CAPITAL
Birr 105 million fully paid up.

TURNOVER
Average annual sales amount to Birr 59,300,000 (USD 4.5 Million)

HUMAN RESOURCE
1,415 qualifies and experienced permanent staff and above 500 employees on contract basis.

Transport Facility
The Entrprise owns Heavy and light trucks to facilitate its export and domestic operation as per customer's requirement.

Core Activities
With the above organizational and logisic facilities, the enterprise currently engaged in:
  • Export of Oil Seeds, Coffee and Pulses to earn foreign currency for the nation.
  • Supply of grain as Row Material Inputs for local food processing industries, and
  • Supply of food grain for government, non-government organization, city dwellers and other customers.
